Second airplane on the island for 2009's winter study. Donnie and Rolf landed with the Flagship first to make sure there was enough ice for the loaded to the gills Beaver. (Aircraft was full of stuff and John, myself and the pilot, weight was nowhere near capacity.)

From several years ago, coming into Windigo for the opening week of winter study.

Looking NNW from Mt. Franklin. 

Middle of summer and the ferns have taken over.  The trail is really there and the Trail Crew cleared it in the spring, but ferns grow rapidly when conditions are ideal. 

When one sits up at the tower long / often enough, you sometimes see interesting things wandering by.

The Ojibway tower from Chippewa harbor.  Yes, it's there. In the distance. Small though.
